New York City’s continuing renaissance is due in large part to the dynamic effort, boundless energy and immense creativity of the men and women who comprise the building community. Its construction managers, contractors, skilled union workers, architects, engineers, real estate managers, developers and other professionals represent one-fourth of the City’s economy and more than $100 billion in annual output.

Building activity is now at levels rarely experienced in New York’s history. Befitting the City that never sleeps, the construction industry literally works around the clock to furnish New York with the buildings and infrastructure it needs to thrive. From the northern-most reaches of the
Bronx to the southern tip of Staten Island, the building industry is producing gleaming high-rise office towers, modern schools and courthouses, attractive housing, and improved bridges, subways and tunnels.

As a broad and unique coalition involving 350 organizations and more than 150,000 individuals, the New York Building Congress is celebrating its 80th year of serving these men and women who so ably serve all who live, work and visit this thriving metropolis.
