New York Building Foundation

The New York Building Foundation was formed in 1998 to augment the long-term growth and well-being of the industry. Led by Chairman John F. Hennessy, III, and a prestigious Board of Governors, the Building Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is developing an initial action program in three areas:

Research: The New York Building Foundation will sponsor analyses designed to quantify the economic impact of capital investment through job creation, related private sector development and expansion of the City’s tax base. The Foundation also will commission studies of the long-term impact of deferred infrastructure maintenance.

Education: Building the New York of tomorrow requires a full complement of skilled, competent and creative professionals and trades people. The Building Foundation will work with other industry groups and trade associations toassist young builders in their development by supporting mentoring programs, apprenticeships, college aid and on-the-job training.

Philanthropy: Meeting the needs of New Yorkers should be a major concern to all who live and work in this City. The cultivation of a stable and productive workforce is a key ingredient to a thriving economy. To that end, the Building Foundation will marshal the unique and diverse skills as well as the time, influence and resources of industry leaders
in helping to make New York a better place for everyone.
