Stuart E. GrahamNEW YORK, October 29, 2008 – Stuart E. Graham, one of the world’s preeminent builders, has been elected to serve as Chairman of the New York Building Congress, succeeding STV Group Chairman/CEO Dominick M. Servedio.

Mr. Graham recently returned to New York City after spending six years in Stockholm as President and CEO of Skanska AB, with operations in the US, Europe and Latin America.

He currently serves as Chairman of Skanska USA, overseeing its entire American business operations. In New York City alone, Skanska employs nearly 1,000 people and generates revenues in excess of $2 billion annually. More importantly, Mr. Graham and his Skanska team are helping to shape the future of this region through their work on a wide range of complex, vital and innovative projects.  A small sample includes the new Meadowlands Stadium, the United Nations redevelopment, the Croton Water Filtration plant, an advanced research center for C.U.N.Y. and the 7 Line Subway line in Manhattan.

While Mr. Graham succeeds Mr. Servedio during a period of record construction spending in New York, it also is a period of great uncertainty given the current state of the financial markets and the likely impact that will have on the New York City and State economy and government budgets.

“I have long been proud of my work with the Building Congress.  I am very fortunate to take a leadership role in this vital coalition of design, construction and real estate professionals so soon after my return to this extraordinary City,” said Mr. Graham.  “I will have the challenge of succeeding Dominic, an excellent Chairman and dedicated New Yorker, at a time of great fiscal turmoil, which is playing out rapidly in both the public and private sector.  It will be our job as an organization and an industry to extol the importance of continually building for growth even in difficult times.”

Mr. Servedio said, “It has been my privilege to serve as Chairman of the Building Congress and to have done so during a period of unrivaled prosperity in all industry sectors.  This experience helped reinforce for me just how dedicated the men and women of this industry are to New York City’s future.  On a range of critical issues, including revitalizing our waterfronts, improving our educational infrastructure, expanding our transportation system and creating economic opportunities in each borough, members of this industry have been a force for positive action and long-term thinking.  I look forward to working with Stu Graham as he ably carries forward with a dynamic agenda for the Building Congress.”

“Stu Graham represents the strength, innovation and depth of this industry as well as the vitality of the New York Building Congress, which has been fortunate to have consistently outstanding leadership to help chart the City’s course through good times and bad,” said Building Congress President Richard T. Anderson.  “Stu joins a long list of men and women, most recently Dominick Servedio, Frank Sciame and Marilyn Jordan Taylor, who exemplify this history of devotion and intelligent service to the industry and New York City.”
