"Our state is desperate for housing, so much so that even incremental progress is welcome," said New York Building Congress President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura, Esq. "We thank the Governor for sticking to her word and enacting executive actions on the sorely needed 8,000 units in the Gowanus development, for encouraging building on public land, and for providing incentives to municipalities around housing construction.
But these are stopgaps, and we need real solutions.
We encourage all of our elected state leaders to start discussing NOW how we are going to solve our housing crisis, so that the next legislative session isn't a complete waste like this year's was."
