FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 5, 2024
"We are living in a bad episode of 'The Twilight Zone.' If the Governor is truly planning to delay the implementation of congestion pricing, as reported, it would be a devastating blow to commuters, to the hard-working men and women of the construction industry, and to our city’s workforce, all of which will suffer greatly as a result – as will all New Yorkers.
Congestion pricing is our greatest opportunity to ‘fix the MTA’ — something every New Yorker wants. Without the $15 billion it will provide, projects like Phase 2 of the 2nd Avenue Subway and making our subway stations accessible for all may stall for years – or forever. The delays and disruptions of the past will increase once again.
Congestion pricing is New York law. It is set to be implemented in 25 days, and, with it, New York City will be on its way to a stronger, fairer, more breathable and accessible future. There can be no more delays."
