"Council Member Vallone’s legislation creating a drone task force would be a significant step in the right direction. The use of drones in New York City is currently hampered by an outdated local law intended for helicopters and airplanes. While major cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago have begun to reap the benefits of this technology, New York has fallen behind. It’s time for the City to bring this modern tool to its businesses. Drones will enable the building industry to redefine the way buildings are designed, constructed and maintained, and will save time and money when performing site surveys and facade inspections and monitoring workplace safety. The Building Congress looks forward to continuing to work with our partners in government and the industry to create a safe and sensible system that allows for commercial drone use.”
