New York Building Congress Welcomes TD Bank As Its 500th Member During Record-setting Year For New Membership

NEW YORK, September 28, 2017 – The New York Building Congress announced today that its membership reached an all-time high with the recent addition of TD Bank, one of the largest banks in the United States, as its 500th member.

Since the beginning of 2017, the Building Congress has added 125 new member firms to its growing ranks. With three months still to go, the Building Congress has already shattered its previous record of 68 new memberships in a single year, which was achieved in 2015.

"I'm thrilled to welcome TD Bank as our 500th member – they have a long history of success in New York and I am confident we will accomplish incredible things together," said Building Congress President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura. "One of the main priorities I set for my first year at the Building Congress was to increase the size, scope and diversity of our membership, and I'm happy to say that we have already far exceeded our lofty expectations for 2017. Our new member firms are both large and small; hail from all five boroughs; and are active in virtually every segment of the building community. This type of diversity allows us to hear from all voices in the industry and makes us better advocates for all our members."

"TD Bank has long recognized the terrific work the Building Congress has done as the premier advocate for the real estate and construction industry across New York," said Peter Meyer, New York City Market President, TD Bank. "We are thrilled to join this wonderful organization, and are even more honored to be the record-setting 500th member."

The New York Building Congress' strength is rooted in the active participation of its members, who are called upon to set a proactive agenda aimed at advancing New York City's economy as well as the design, construction, and real estate industry. Through its committees, events, research, policy agenda, and meetings with public officials, Building Congress members can forge a common agenda, stay up-to-date on policies and legislation affecting the building community, and network with a wide range of industry colleagues.
