Ribbon-Cutting Opens One Vanderbilt in Midtown East

Connect New York

Paul Bubny, 9.15.20

The developers of One Vanderbilt Ave., the 1,401-foot-tall tower in Midtown East, joined with government and transit officials, labor leaders and building tenants for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday. SL Green Realty Corp., which began assembling land for the project in 2001, developed the 1.7-million-square-foot One Vanderbilt with Hines and the National Pension Service of Korea.

“One Vanderbilt is already the best address in Manhattan, headquarters to leading global companies and home to the most incredible space and views in New York City,” said Marc Holliday, CEO of SL Green. With some $220 million in privately-funded public space and transit infrastructure improvements, “One Vanderbilt is also a testament to what a public-private partnership can achieve to strengthen New York City.”

Carlo A. Scissura, president of the New York Building Congress, called the project’s completion “an incredible achievement and a testament to the resilience of New York City and our building industry.”
